Centreofexcellence – Challenging Behaviour in Children and Young People Diploma Course

What Will You Learn?

Behavioural problems are too often misunderstood and can lead to stressful situations for both child and parent.

This child behaviour course offers challenging behaviour training. It explains how parents, teachers, and others who care for children can help to make positive changes through knowledge, change in mindset and the implementation of effective strategies and techniques.

The Challenging Behaviour in Children and Young People Diploma Course will look at what we mean by ‘challenging behaviour’ and help us to understand the reasons behind difficult behaviours in children and young people. It will help you understand that there is always a reason for any behaviour, whether it seems obvious to us or not. It is their way of communicating with us, often in the absence of having any other way to do so.

We will look at challenging behaviours across all ages and provide ways of dealing with these. We’ll cover how brain development from birth to the teenage years can account for certain behaviours, so we develop an understanding of what is going on in our children’s minds and how we can help them.

Some behaviours are inevitable, whereas others, with the right understanding and strategies put into practice, can be modified or prevented. The course explains the difference between these types of behaviour.

Many of the behaviours witnessed in children and young people are learned from their parents and other role models, showing that prevention and change, is as much about ourselves as it is those we seek to help. In addition to this, it is in changing ourselves and how we perceive behavioural issues that we can enhance our own coping strategies, whilst simultaneously giving more back to the afflicted. The course teaches how to change our mindsets and attitudes towards negative behaviours and offers positive steps to handle them and make lasting changes. We will also look at how to look inwardly, at our own behaviours and how they could be having a negative effect, and how to become more conscious, mindful and aware in our parenting.

Whilst everything covered in the course is valid to those with children or who care for children, the information and techniques taught are just as applicable in the classroom. With teachers in mind, the Challenging Behaviour in Children and Young People Diploma Course also offers specific strategies to those who are having difficulty in reaching their students academically and dealing with the issues that can arise from behavioural problems.

Who Would Benefit from This Course?

The Challenging Behaviour in Children and Young People Diploma Course is designed to provide parents, carers, and teachers with a better understanding of child behaviour and the knowledge of how best to deal with it. The results of this will be a vast improvement in the relationships between you and the children in your care, whether in a parental or professional role.
