Centreofexcellence – Anger and Aggression Management Practitioner Course

What Will You Learn?

Why do some of us get so angry, whilst others remain calm in even the most stressful of situations? This course uncovers the reasons behind our anger, the effects it has on our mind and body and on others, and how to relieve and prevent anger through proven techniques, strategies and lifestyle choices.

The Anger and Aggression Management Practitioner Course opens by discussing the reasons we get angry – considering social learning, environment, and stress as contributing factors. The different forms and types of anger, the link between anger and depression, and common myths regarding anger and aggressive behavioural patterns are also explored.

With stress being a major contributing factor in many cases of anger, the course expands on the relationship between the two and the effects stress can have on the body. You’ll learn how small amounts of stress, which can be controlled and harnessed, can be beneficial. You’ll be introduced to meditation and mindfulness – showing how these powerful practices can be used to combat stress without resorting to medication.

Through studying the Anger and Aggression Management Practitioner Course, you will learn what occurs in the brain when anger takes over and what the effects of anger on the mind and body are. You’ll look at the ways people create temporary, ineffective diversions from anxiety and how to get past these, and how taking care of your gut can have a positive effect when tackling stress.

Anger and aggression can easily escalate into physical violence. This course explains the psychological aftermath violence has on its victims and the effects exposure to violence in the media and in their environment, can have on children.

Repressing or acting on anger uncontrollably can be damaging to your mental and physical health. This course walks you through various techniques that will allow you to express anger safely and leave you feeling calmer. These include quick-release and healthy diversion techniques to dedicated practices such as walking, yoga, laughter, and mindful breathing.

You’ll discover how practising simple Buddhist teachings can have a dramatic preventative effect over reoccurring feelings of anger. The course expands on other preventative techniques, explaining why they work and how to make these part of a daily routine. You’ll also learn about using mindfulness, meditation, deep breathing, and self-hypnosis as tools in anger management.

A lot of what instigates anger in us can be avoided with simple life changes. It’s important for us to have downtime, to relax and recharge and have space between us and objects of possible stress. This course will explain the ways in which you can reclaim time to spend on yourself. Another obstacle in the way of calmness is communication, or more precisely miscommunication. You’ll learn how to become a more effective communicator, gain confidence, and use assertiveness, rather than anger.

What we consume has a dramatic impact on how we feel and how we cope. The Anger and Aggression Management Practitioner Course takes you through natural remedies to stress and insomnia, explaining how various herbs can be consumed and oils used in aromatherapy to alleviate symptoms and promote relaxation. The negative effects of alcohol and nicotine are also explained.

Before anger can take hold, there are numerous techniques that you can use to lessen the incident or absolve yourself of the emotion altogether. The course explains how to use the following exercises to do this: RAIN technique, STOP technique, transforming anger and aggression exercise (Chad technique), body scan mindfulness exercise, 4-7-8 breathing, mindfulness meditation, ‘Assertive Not Angry’ meditation, self-hypnosis, affirmations.

As anger comes from our mind, removing it must come from the mind also. You’ll learn about how thinking works and how, with the right knowledge and tools, we can become more aware and change our ways of thinking – replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts. You’ll discover how to rate the stresses in your life, highlight areas that need work and become more effective at coping with these stresses. The course also provides a comprehensive understanding of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and how this powerful tool can be used to prevent anger occurring in you or those you are communicating with.

The course concludes by showing you ways that you can bring together everything you have learnt to provide useful and actionable information to clients, as an anger management practitioner. How to build rapport and work with clients is also covered.
